Katy Abbott Kvasnica’s music seeks to respond to the situations and environments she experiences and to share these experiences with her audience through music. Having lived in Malaysia and Dubai, her writing often reflects on concepts of home, place and humour.
Abbott Kvasnica is Lecturer in Composition at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. She is the winner of a number of important awards including the Gold Medal in Art Song (Boston Metro Opera) and the Albert H Maggs Award. Her music is regularly broadcast and performed in Australia and presented at international festivals. This, together with 3 monograph discs underline a career as an important Australian composer and educator.
